First flight from Iran Tehran to Gazipaşa-Alanya airport
Gazipaşa-Alanya Airport has welcomed the first flight of Freebird, which is a Turkish airline company, to Gazipaşa-Alanya airport from Tehran, Iran. With this flight to Alanya Freebird Airlines connects these two cities during the Nowruz Holidays.
Operated by TAV Airports, Gazipaşa-Alanya Airport hosted the first Tehran flight launched by Freebird which is an Istanbul-based Turkish airline company. Landing to Gazipaşa-Alanya Airport on 18th of March at 12:20 pm with 174 passengers, the flight was welcomed by water arches. After the landing, the passengers were greeted by TAV Gazipaşa and Freebird executives at a cocktail reception.
TAV Gazipaşa Operations Deputy Coordinator Murat Şen stated that TAV Airports wish to increase direct flights to Gazipaşa-Alanya Airport. To contribute the tourism in the area we continue to promote all the area. TAV Airports are glad to host flights from Iran Tehran to Gazipaşa-Alanya as part of our collaboration with Freebird Airlines. Freebird Airlines is the 19th airline company launching flights to our airport. “We will continue working to expand the flight network of Gazipaşa-Alanya Airport and develop tourism." said Murat Şen.
Gazipaşa-Alanya Airport has totally 19 airline companies launching domestic and international flights to a total of 25 destinations. The airport hosted totally 6,510 flights in 2015 while providing services to approximately 915,000 passengers.

The mayor of Alanya Adem Murat Yücel said that the whole Alanya is happy to get visitors from Iran. Now when Europe and Russia have economic difficulties it is very important to find alternatives and keep the doors open to everyone. “We are now especially focusing on Iran and Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan. After the visit of Iran’s ambassador we decided to go to delegation to Iran. Now we are starting to see the fruits of the discussions. There will be more flights in the future from Iran to Turkey.” said Adem Murat Yücel.
“Iranians really love Turkey and there were totally 1 700 000 Iranian citizens visiting Turkey in 2015. We believe that this number will double or triple providing that the relationship between Turkey and Iran continues in the same way. We should see the Iranian citizens as our visitors not as travelers.” clarified Adem Murat Yücel.
